I was born In Bulgaria in 1978. My childhood dreams included becoming a circus actress, a mountaineer, and then a surgeon. The last took me to study at Natural Science Gymnasium but as the time moved on, I was becoming more inclined to follow my artistic talents.

 

In 2005, I was awarded a BA (H) in Film and TV Directing from New Bulgarian University. Before leaving Bulgaria in 2013, I worked primarily as a freelancer. I've made educational and presentation films, DVDs, and videos for a number of organisations as well as private clients.

In my early days of practising digital photography, I still hiked the beautiful Bulgarian mountains every chance I had to escape the city. My interest in observing nature pushed me to learn the camera and eventually taking parts in photography and art events first in Bulgarian, and after that - in Scotland. Looking to improve my skills with making stills initially, in 2108, I enrolled the NHC course at Dumfries and Galloway College. Along with significant technical progress, I soon realized that photography gives me a freedom of storytelling,  unknown to me before. After achieving HND in 2020, I applied to continue my training at the University of Cumbria, where I was admitted successfully in the 2nd year.

At the UoC, I continued to learn about different ways of delivering work and exploring topics of interest. For my Degree Show, I'm presenting my first 3D installation "I WAS HERE" which is on migration. In the future I hope to develop the project further and collaborate with other International artists in the UK. 

 

Despite giving up medicine, I'm still deeply passionate about animal welfare and the environment. I've been actively involved in establishing a law on incriminating animal cruelty in Bulgaria in 2010/11. My other long - standing cause is preservation of architectural heritage of my hometown - Balchik. I'm also administering a Facebook group " The White Town on The Black Sea".
